What happens during professional teeth cleaning
Our dental assistants remove hard and soft deposits, tartar and stains from all tooth surfaces, including the spaces between the teeth and along the gum line. The teeth are then polished so that new plaque builds up more slowly, and protected with a fluoride varnish.
Personal oral hygiene advice is always part of the cleaning: we show you which brushing technique and which aids (floss, interdental brushes) suit your teeth.
Why every six months
Bacterial plaque forms constantly. If it is removed professionally on a regular basis, the risk of caries, gum inflammation and periodontitis drops significantly. A six-month rhythm has proven itself; with periodontitis, implants or an increased caries risk, a shorter interval can make sense. We agree the interval with you individually.
For whom cleaning is particularly important
- Patients with periodontitis or bleeding gums
- Wearers of implants, crowns and bridges
- People with braces or splints
- Pregnant women and smokers
- Everyone who wants to keep their teeth healthy and bright in the long term
