Implantology

An implant is a kind of “new root” that is screwed into the jawbone where the missing tooth used to be. This implant screw takes over the role of the natural root and later carries the new tooth replacement.

In briefA dental implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium or ceramic that is placed in the jawbone and, after three to six months of healing, carries a crown, bridge or denture. Implants replace missing teeth without grinding down healthy neighbouring teeth and often last a lifetime with good care.
Total duration
approx. 3–6 months incl. healing
Procedure
outpatient, local anaesthetic, approx. 30–60 minutes per implant
Lasts
decades with good care
Cost
approx. €1,500–3,500 per implant incl. crown; bone augmentation extra if needed
Insurance
fixed subsidy only towards the restoration on the implant; private depending on tariff

All prices are non-binding guide values (German dental fee schedule GOZ, as of 2026) and depend on your individual findings. Your personal treatment and cost plan, which you receive before any major treatment, is binding.

Who implants are suitable for

  • Single gaps, without grinding down healthy neighbouring teeth
  • Larger gaps closed with implant-supported bridges
  • Edentulous jaws: dentures find a secure hold on implants

Healthy gums and sufficient bone are required. We check both carefully, including with an X-ray.

How the treatment works

  1. Consultation and planning: together with you and our implantologists we draw up a treatment plan tailored to you.
  2. Placing the implant: the minor procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, with nitrous oxide on request.
  3. Healing phase: after about three to six months the implant has fused with the jawbone firmly enough to carry the new tooth replacement.
  4. Tooth replacement: crown, bridge or denture are made to fit precisely and attached to the implant.

Do not hesitate to ask us. We are happy to explain whether an implant is an option for you.

Care and durability

With good care, implants can last a lifetime. Careful home oral hygiene, regular check-ups and professional teeth cleaning are important so that no inflammation develops around the implant.

Frequently asked questions

Is placing an implant painful?
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and is usually less stressful than expected. Mild discomfort in the first few days is normal and easy to treat.
How long until the finished tooth?
Including the healing phase, usually three to six months. In suitable cases you receive a temporary in the meantime.
What does an implant cost?
The cost depends on the findings, the number of implants and the type of tooth replacement. You receive a detailed treatment and cost plan in advance; German statutory insurers pay a fixed subsidy towards the tooth replacement.
